I Have Homework...

I am in a pickle people and I need your help!!

Look over to the right, see the section titled “Blogs I Love”, now look at the second one down titled GO{4}PRO Photography! It says that I love this blog but I think it is a little more than that, I stalk this blog, I check up on it everyday, read every post with bated breath, wait, that sounds a little creepy... In all seriousness, I have found this blog to be a wonderful resource to myself has a photographer who is in the process of turning her hobby into a career and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in photography or if you love reading a good blog.

Leah, the author of Go{4}Pro, has dished out a “Homework Assignment”. The assignment is to submit one (1) photograph that captures an expression. If you have seen some of my work, I think you can tell that I am not the ‘cookie cutter’ ‘say cheeeeeze' type of photographer. I am a true believer in capturing an expression, a moment, a slice of time that tells a story without any words.

Let’s get down to the nit and gritty of the pickle I am in. I want to complete this “Homework Assignment”, but I have NEVER submitted my work to anything like this before. I have to admit I am little nervous and apprehensive and have gone through some photos, but cannot make a decision to save my life.

Here is where I need YOU! I have spent the good part of the day thinking of photos that capture an expression and I have posted some of these below. I trust your judgements and am asking YOU to vote on the image YOU think I should submit.  Leave me a comment with the image number and the photograph with the most votes at 4p Sunday (8/22) will be submitted to the Go{4}Pro Homework Assignment.

Happy looking and most of all THANK YOU!

  4. #4 All the way.....priceless!!

  5. I think #6..your looking for an expression... 1 is cute.. 2.. yea okay.. 3 doesn't make sense with the expression.. 6 is a genuine expression of glee and confusion. It fits the age groups...it portrays the young boy puzzled about life and the girl who at that age is usually excited and giddy about life in general..They are all great though..Love Brandi

  9. Wow, Amy, this is hard work. They’re all so good.

I’m torn, but I think 3 & 6 may be the top two. Only because I think 3 is different – definitely not a normal poise. 6 looks like that little girl is going to bust up laughing right off the photo, while the little boy looks like he’s afraid of what might happen.
But, don’t go by me, I have no artistic talents at all!

  13. If "expression beats perfection" then that is the line you have to question on EVERY PHOTO YOU HAVE EVER TAKEN. The one that most meets this phrase will be the clear winner to submit. Don't be nervous, this is a very good exercise in training your eye to see what makes a photo have the "it" factor. BTW I believe expression trumps perfection - every time. Good luck. Carolina

  15. Okay Amy, I choose #1. You captured the expression of a typical boy perfectly. He is going through the motions and doing his duty. But you can tell he is busy thinking about what it is he can get into next. - Deb

  16. Ames,
After much thought and indecision, I have to choose #1. Awesome expression, and it was the first one to jump out at me as "the winner." Number 6 would be second choice.

  19. I would choose #3. #1 is fantastic, no doubt. Great angle, just the right moment. The reason I like #3 is because it makes you wonder about the two kids. Also, there is amazing contrast between the kids and their backdrop.

  20. I have looked at all 27 comments so far. Doesn't look like your decision is going to be any easier - that is a good sign. Carolina
PS - let me know which one you choose.
