Maine Family Photography

I had a lot of photographing this family last weekend! I work with Mom, who herself is a fantastic photographer, so when she asked me to photograph her family, between you and me and your monitor, I was a little nervous. I have never photographed another photographer before, so let’s just say my personal expectations were set on high. Come to find out, Mom wasn’t the one I should have been nervous about… I should have been nervous about photographing this guy! He had more ideas for cool locations and poses than I did!! Needless to say, we got some pretty cool shots!

Love this!!

My favorite of the day!!

Maine Family Photography - Sneak Peek

Here is a little sneak peek of a session from this past weekend. As I am going through the pictures I can't believe how relaxed and happy they all look... because it was FREEZING outside. Like I had to scrape my windshield before I left the house and when I was telling them what to do I could see my breath... Yeah it was C.O.L.D.

I am not sure what it was about this picture, perhaps the lighting, maybe it is her shirt and straight hair, but I got a real 70's vibe from it. So I played around a little with the color/saturation and added a little texture. I am loving the results!

Happy Thursday!

Fall in Maine

October has always been one of my favorite months; after all what is not to love. It is the changing of the seasons that brings out a whole new wardrobe filled with exciting clearance pieces from last year you forgot you bought, the anticipation of a brisk night is the perfect excuse to throw together a big meal, topped off with a heavy dessert or two, the smells of apples baking mixed with sweet cinnamon and nutmeg rise up from my oven, only because my candle is burning on top of the stove, and last but certainly not least, the foliage!!

If you have never been to Maine in the fall, put it on your list of things to do. It is a sight for sore eyes. I love to just drive around and look at everything. Although this year, I haven't had much free time to drive around without a specific arrival time and destination in mind. Except... for this past weekend.

Sunday morning I had a photo shoot, I was a little ahead of schedule so I ventured into Augusta and saw some pretty amazing views. I pulled into a near by vacant parking lot and with camera in tow, captured the essence of fall in Maine.

Our State Capitol Building

This crow scared the bee-geesums out of me. Picture this: Me, walking through a vacant parking lot, trying to be all cool with my camera and then CAACAWW! It was one of those times where you scream like an 8 year old, duck your head and almost break an ankle. Once you realize what just happened you look around to make sure no one was watching yeah that was me, all thanks to this bird!

On with the pretty:

So after I regained my composure from the bird incident, I looked to my right and what did I see? THIS! Can you believe it, perfect timing on my part. I would have loved to run over, wave my arms and ask for a ride... but at this point, I was pretty sure I was the proud owner of a busted ankle!

What is your favorite part of fall?
Happy Tuesday!

Lucas & Amanda, Maine Wedding Photography

There are many people anxiously awaiting this post, so I have spent countless hours and sleepless nights, neglecting housework and my husband in order to get this post up! No, not really :-)

Lucas and Amanda were referred to me by my sister-in-law who works with the bride. I was excited when she told me that Amanda is a big fan of the blog and loved my work. Wait?! What?!? A fan!! I was hooked. As I got to know Amanda through back and forth e-mails, I knew this would be a super fun group of people and for some reason I envisioned Luke and Amanda with a classic gangster style car. So I thought what the heck and shot her an e-mail with my (crazy) idea. You could imagine my surprise, complete with a gasp, a hoot, and a fist pump when Amanda told me she loved the idea, checked on it and was actually able to get the EXACT style car I was envisioning for her wedding day!!

So fast forward to a couple weeks ago, the wedding day. It was a typical fall day in Maine, cold and wet. But that didn’t deter my bride and groom and their awesome wedding party from grouping outside, in some tall/uneven grass, and helping me get some a.m.a.z.i.n.g. pictures.

Luke and Amanda, thank you so much for letting me photograph your day. I hope you love these images as much as I do.

Amanda, you oozed gorgeous all day.

Heck with the muffin pass me the Stud CAKE!!

Werk IT!

Love, Love, Love this picture of the guys!

Look out boys, the ladies brought their "A" game too!

There were some pretty cute kids at the wedding too!

These next two are just too cool not to post!

Happy Sunday!

Would You Rather Wednesday... only it's Thursday

I love blogs! For me, they are a great source of inspiration, joy, and comfort (it’s nice to know there are people ‘like me’ out there). I noticed on a few of my favorites they have ‘theme’ posts, for example Ashley Ann, Under the Sycamore is doing a month long theme with the number 10, others have a fill in the ______ post on a particular day, some have Wordless Wednesday’s where they simply just post a picture, I am liking these ‘themes’. So because I am totally unoriginal, I am going to start a ‘theme’ post. I think I am going to call it “Would You Rather Wednesday Post”. So here I am a day late and a buck short, with my first “Would You Rater Wednesday” {only it’s obviously Thursday}

Would you rather:
Have $10 in savings because you spent the rest today
OR
Have $10,000 in savings because you may need for tomorrow

Let me know what YOU would rather, in a comment below. :o)

Distracted

Singing along with the radio, talking on the phone, eating, drinking coffee, heck even thinking about all the things I have to do can all be hazardous for me while driving. But recently, as in the last two months when someone was finally too big for a rear facing car seat, the MOST distracting thing I have to deal with while driving is this:

I just can't stop looking. Oh and for the record she loves the Zac Brown Band, Gaga, and Bob Seger. I know this because when their songs come on, she instantly turns into the cutest bobble head I have ever seen!

Happy Tuesday!

Luke & Amanda, Sneak Peek

I photographed the wedding of Amanda & Luke yesterday. I am going through the pictures now and want to know what good deed I did to be able to photograph such a wonderful couple and THIS car. You just wait... this is only the tip of the iceberg!

Saturday Morning at Our House

This morning started out like every other morning, only a little earlier than usual, 5:30am to be exact. My little Sweet Pea was excited to start the weekend I guess, so the whole house was up and a buzz by 5:42am. As we were sitting on the couch watching the morning weather, I looked over to my little buddy and all I could do was smile. Yes, it was early, yes, I would have loved to sleep in another 23 minutes, but being up before the world is part of being a Mom. Plus, she looked so darn cute, I had to go get my camera.

Then I realized just about everything she does is so darn cute; so I decided to document Sweet Pea's morning, well the first five hours of it anyway. Here is how the rest of the early a.m. went.

Watched some cartoon's while Mom is on a work conference call.

Gave my doggie some lovies.

Emptied my basket of blankies.

Oops, where did she go?

Played with my Daddy.

Read myself a book.

And finally, five hours later, I take a little nap.

Happy Weekend Everyone!
