Hugs & Shrugs, By YOU!

A few weeks ago I asked you readers for your Hugs & Shrugs and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of responses you left. I have read through them and have pasted some of my favorites below.

Hugs:
1) Have grandchildren for a sleepover, 2) My 2 year old's "I Luff Mommie", 3) Realizing that you have married the man of your dreams and he has help make your beautiful baby (babies) possible!!! 4) Becoming Grandma J what I have wanted since kindergarten when we had to choose what we wanted to be I chose "Grammie", 5) My forever friends

Shrugs:
1) Sunday mornings when you go to make your coffee and all the k-cups are gone, 2) Going to empty the dishwasher this morning only to realize that it is broken, so 1.) I need to wash all the dishes by hand and 2.) I might need to go buy a new dishwasher, 3) GERMS!! Waking up with a sore throat AGAIN after having a nasty cold only 2 weeks ago. I think I need to start drinking purell!! 4) Gray hairs growing back in after a really nice hair color, 5) Lady Bugs!

Side note: I saw this image on Pinterest back in July, I thought it was hilarious because I sawthis outfit everywhere! It is now November and I am still seeing it!! It's either cold enough for boots or warm enough for shorts... It can not be both.

It's either cold enough for uggs or warm enough for shorts... It cannot be both.

Happy Sunday!

Hugs & Shrugs: Scentsy & Split Ends (and a Giveaway too)

HUGS:
1) Scentsy: I love it and may have a small addiction but so far it is not affecting my work or sleep schedule so I am good. 2) Raising Hope: Are you guys watching this show? If not, you should really start. It is kind of like Modern Family, only there is one family and no sexy accents. 3) The ability to breath out of both nostrils; it's the little things people!

SHRUGS:
1) Smoothies: I know they are all the rage, but I don’t like them. If I am going to take the time to blend something up and then suck it out of a straw, it will be loaded with calories, saturated fat, and will most likely have a little alcohol in there too. 2) Rejection and/or exclusion; that's right kids it happens to adults too and it still feels like sh*t. 3) Split Ends: They look bad and for some reason I feel to need to search each one out until I am cross-eyed and then methodically pluck each.one.off.

And the best part!! I contacted my awesome Scentsy Consultant, Tonya, to see if she would be interested in participating in a little giveaway for you readers this week, AND SHE SAID YES!! I may have squealed in excitement and there may have been a fist pump or two… but I was alone and there are no witnesses to confirm or deny either of those things happening.

Tonya Picard has graciously donated to one lucky reader a:

Full Size Doodlebud Warmer
(value $30)!

HUGS & SHRUGS: Tootsie Fruit Rolls & Egg Rolls

HUGS:
1) Downy Unstoppable in-wash Scent Boosters; have you tried this yet? If you haven't OMW, go get yourself some. It's like little pebbles of fabric softener you put in the wash and it makes your clothes smell ah-may-zing! But amongst friends, I will buy any gimmick that gets me excited about doing laundry. 2) Starbucks Salted Caramel Latte - ahhhhh the sweet caramel flavor blended with a tang of salt, Mmmm 2) Tootsie Fruit Rolls; they have forever been my absolute favorite and Hannaford has them 50% off making them $1.44, so I bought seven bags. WHAT?! They are hard to find!

SHRUGS:
1) People who flip YOU the bird because THEY don't know which lane they are supposed to be in, 2) Egg Rolls; they look okay, smell really good, but taste - BLAT! Every time we order take out one of these are included, each time I think 'I will give it another shot' but my opinion never changes. 3) iTunes; no really I love iTunes, but it is so easy to buy music.. like a lot of music that I would never usually buy, but because they have everything and it only takes a click of the mouse to purchase it, I tend to do it... a lot and my checkbook just called and told me to stop or else she is going to bounce baby out the door...(ohh, I love that song... I'm going to Tunes...)

And because you now have that song in your head...

Hugs & Shrugs: Mother-in-Laws & Mud Season

Yes. I am still alive! I am having severe blogging block and every time I think, 'oh I should blog about that' when I actually get the time to start doing it, American Idol comes on and poof another day is gone. So because I have nothing super exciting to report, I will do an old stand by post, a Hug & Shrug!

HUGS:
1) Mother-in-laws who call the house at 7am on a Saturday (keep reading, yes this is in the right catagory) and asks if your almost three year old can come over and spend a couple hours with her cousin - ummm YES! She is on her way right NOW!! 2) Bath & Body Works - True Blue Spa Refreshing Face Scrub w. Peppermint - it comes out of the tube super smooth, rubs on a little rough, but not so rough it feels like it is ripping my face off, and it smells like it leaves my face, cool and refreshed. 3) Pinterest: I have avoided you like Ben & Jerry's Coffee Toffee ice cream for the past 6 months, and after pinning for 46 straight hours, I know why. I am in love and don't be surprised if you see less posts in this blog, because ever 32 spare seconds I get, will be spent pinning!!

Pinterest Logo

SHRUGS:
1) Pinterest, see #3 above, I.CAN'T.STOP. 2) Mud season in January and February, look mother nature, my car can not handle 6 months of mud season and if mud boots are going to become a staple to my wardrobe, I may have to go buy a pair that I actually like! 3) Laundry, does it ever end?

Hugs & Shrugs - Holiday Edition

HUGS:
1) Hair tinsel; a wispy strand of tis the season strategically placed in my hair which makes me feel all Holla-day without having to wear an ugly sweater, 2) I was debating putting this one as a shrug, but if you think about it... it's a hug a really, super, great big HUG; Husbands who hands you cash and say 'go get what you want'; it is a sure way to avoid the disappointed look on your face when you open a gallon of windshield washer fluid... or ice creepers... or snow shoes... or a bar of soap... you get the hint, 3) Holiday shopping commercials and there are some super funny ones this year, like Wal-Mart's  "Ringadingding ringadingding Ring ME UP!!!!" gets me every time, oh and what about Best Buy's commercial where the women are out doing Santa - bwahaha!

SHRUGS:
1) People who wait to the last minute to do all their shopping and then complain because they can't find the time or the gifts people want, ummm HELLLO Christmas comes on the same day every year, every single year, so there is no reason to act all surprised when someone tells you Christmas Eve is tomorrow, 2) Strands of lights that choose to stop working after you have them up on the tree, really what happened in those last 8 minutes that made you stop working? 3) The possibility of NOT having a white Christmas, devastating to say the least.

Happy Holidays!

Oh and don't forget to leave me your comment on this post for a chance to win a $5 Starbucks gift card!

Hugs & Shrugs - Adele and Pumpkin Coffee

HUGS:

1) Adele. I purchased 21 approximately 2.5 weeks ago and am pretty sure I have listened to it 2,578,661 times, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! If you don't have it go to iTunes right now and download it, if you are not happy with it, well then we can't be friends anymore -haha! 2) My physical therapy girl; I say girl because I am sure she is at least a half decade younger than I am and now that I am 30, pretty much every female 0-29 is now a girl to me, anywho she is super nice, smart, and is helping me get this leg back into shape, 3) The flat frying pan my Mom gave me for my birthday. For years I have been grilling up two toasted cheeses at a time (you may call them 'grilled' cheese, but in this house that cheese melted between two buttery pieces of bread is TOASTED), that was until now! The other day I was able to toast up four, yes four sandwiches enough for the hubs, the babes, myself and one to spare.

SHRUGS:
1) D&D has never, ever, ever once made an appearance in this category, oh wait there was that one time about that really slow one, but never has a product made it on here until today. The new pumpkin iced coffee. I ordered one yesterday took one slug off the straw and wanted to spit it out all over my steering wheel. Some of you wait all year for this coffee... you must drink it hot because iced it tastes like *&%! 2) The return of weather that requires the one item of clothing I loathe... SOCKS! Anyone with a two year old and a husband can understand this one with no further explanation. 3) Not being able to drive the Jeep because it is a standard and I only have 32 degrees of bendage (yes that is a word) with my clutch leg. Say.no.more.

Happy Wednesday!

Hugs & Shrugs, Mother's Day Edition

HUGS: 1) No longer needing an excuse to buy Handi-Snacks! 2) Pats on the back; when they come from your child it's reassurance you are doing a good job, 3) The reason I get to celebrate this day; my beautiful, funny, talented, sometimes manipulating, smart, wonderful, the best thing that has ever happened to me, daughter!

SHRUGS: 1) No matter how big or how small, never, never, never being able to finish a cup of coffee, 2) Baby/toddler socks; seriously where do they all go??, 3) Rips in the diaper genie bags... when a rip has ripped, my entire house smells like a State Park outhouse on the hottest day in August!

Happy Mother's Day to all the beautiful, wonderful, amazing Mom's that read my blog!

Hugs & Shrugs - Wellies & Dust

It has been a while since we have done one of these, so here we go!

HUGS:
1) Makoto Ginger Dressing - Years ago there was this great little Japanese restaurant in town who had the BEST ginger dressing, it was so good I could have drank it by the glass. Unfortunately the place closed and ever since I have been longing for that sweet salty ginger glaze to once again coat my lettuce and shredded carrots. Well friends, that search has come to an end, my taste buds are once again graced with the tangy combination of soy sauce and ginger. Alas!

2) Yo Gabba Gabba - If you just said 'what the heck is a Yo Gabba Gabba', friends you are not alone. I have no idea, all I know is that it is on Nick Jr and my daughter LOVES IT!! It is on right around the time we get home at night and it entertains her long enough for me to figure out what I am cooking for supper.

3) My new L.L. Been Wellies - having endured 29 winters and mud seasons in Maine, this girl can appreciate a good rubber boot when she tries one on. I have 'invested' in cheaper more trendy rubber boots in the past and needless to say they have all left me, well my socks really, out to dry. They have all cracked, leaked, and tore around the treads, so this week, enough was enough. If you are looking for some good rubber boots, get yourself a pair of these. If they are a little too 'functional' looking for your taste, invest in some Wellie Warmers, they look adorable folded over the top of your boots, plus they are made of fleece inside!

SHRUGS:
1) Ladies in Wal*Mart who feel the need to tell their pregnant friend and everyone else at the check out line about their 17 hour labor. No body cares how long you were at 5cm and nobody, certainly not your pregnant girlfriend wants to hear about how many stitches it took to 'zip' you back up!! Yes, this really happened.

2) Dust - where do you come from anyway. Can't you just find somewhere else to hang out??

3) My iPod - which keeps freezing. I 'googled' a remedy the other day and when I did it resynced my ipod and my itunes and I lost 80% of my music, does anyone out there know what might be the issue causing it to freeze?!? Until a remedy is googled, commented, or suggested my once Hug of an iPod is permanently on the Shrug!

Happy Sunday

Hugs & Shrugs: Mugs & Ice Cube Trays

HUGS: 1) My new Longaberger Candy Corn Travel Mug; it is festive, functional, and fits my hand like a glove, 2) the hype of vacation; planning for four nights and five days of sun, sand, and wedding celebrations - yeehaawww, 3) the people who comment on my blog posts; in a weird way receiving comments makes me feel validated as a 'blogger' and that people really a] read my blog and b] like what I am doing.

SHRUGS: 1) People who put an ice cube tray back in the freezer with only one ice cube in it...seriously, if you are not going to use that last piece of ice, pop it in the sink then FILL the ice tray back up before you put it back in the freezer, 2) Elusive milk cups in my car; nothing is worse than being able to SMELL the milk cup but not being able to SEE the milk cup... blat! 3) the hype of vacation; the thought of leaving my sweet pea and my husband for four nights and five days keeps creating a lump in my throat.

Happy Sunday!

Hugs & Shurgs

HUGS: 1) the new McDonald's Frappes; if you haven’t had one yet, What are you waiting for? Try the mocha first, then go back the next day and try the caramel, you will not be disappointed. 2) Camping; you are the perfect excuse for me to eat like a 15 year old boy and drink ice cold beer at 10a. 3) Old(er) people who finally splurge on THEMSELVES. I saw an old lady the other day driving a shiny convertible, top down, with a smile a mile wide! I wanted to scream out my moon roof’ “You Go Girl!”

SHRUGS: 1) Humidity; you make it impossible to dry clothes on the line and make it unbearable to live in my house without A/C, please e-mail me your address so I can send you my power bill which doubled last month. 2) Camping, you are cold, dirty, and malicious; I know it was you who coerced that squirrel to run beside my tent all night, the sound of which I convinced myself was a BEAR, thanks for the sleepless night(s). 3) Waitresses who are not shiny, happy people, you can make the best steak taste like crap!

This was the view from our campsite, not too shabby...

Hugs & Shrugs

HUGS: 1) Family members who offer you their old cell phone because they heard you ‘allegedly’ dropped your phone in your driveway and your husband ran over it, 2) Preparation for my favorite day on the calendar – the 4th of JULY!! 3) The crunch/hot fudge layer in a Dairy Queen cake; we spent a lot of time together this weekend and I have the back fat to prove it.

SHRUGS: 1) People who can’t do a-n-y-thing for themselves 2) Those pesky little rings in a 3-ring binder that don’t line up correctly making it impossible to flip any more than three pages at a time, 3) Bills; someday I will get a paycheck I can use towards something I WANT, someday...

Hugs & Shrugs

HUGS: 1) Birthday’s; it’s that one day a year that is truly all about YOU! When people complain about them, I point out ‘they sure beat the alternative’ 2) John’s Ice Cream; I have proclaimed my love for this ice cream before, but here I go again, this week I am in heaven with their homemade peanut butter crunch, a T.B.O. to the tenth power!! 3) Ice Water; you are cheap, refreshing, fat AND calorie free, and are always on tap.

SHRUGS: 1) Hang nails; you are ugly and when I try to rip you off with my teeth you go on and bleed all over the place (eye roll) 2) A rattling exhaust; you remind me of my first car and instead of fixing you, you drive me (pun intended) to look for a new car, 3) BP Oil and their “back-up plan(s)”

If you are ever driving down Rt 3 in Liberty and see this sign, PULL IN!!

Hugs & Shrugs

HUGS: 1) BLT’s; who ever thought bacon would be good on a lettuce and tomato sandwich is a culinary genius! 2) Mulch; the dark kind, you make weeding a thing of the past and make my gardens look professionally kept (when we all know they are not) 3) Sunglasses; you protect my eyeballs from the sun’s harmful rays, you make me feel like a celebrity while driving in my car, and you are the perfect hair accessory on a humid day.

SHRUGS: 1) Dog hair; it’s everywhere, in my car, on my floors, on my clothes and in my daughters mouth; is it unheard of to shave a lab??? 2) Alarm clocks going off at 3:30am on a Saturday for… wait for it…. Turkey hunting, let’s not go there. 3) Jon Gosselin; there once was a time I felt bad for you, now I just think you are a waste of valuable ET time and by the way you are getting chunky!!
